Spray Tan Pre and after care
Spray Tan Before Care:
-
Hair Removal:
-
Shave at least 24 hours before your spray tan. If you wax, ensure it’s done at least 48 hours prior to your treatment.
-
-
Exfoliation:
-
Exfoliate your skin 2-3 days before your spray tan using an exfoliating body scrub and a loofah or exfoliating gloves. Pay extra attention to dry areas like elbows and knees.
-
-
Moisturization:
-
Keep your skin well-moisturized for 2-3 days leading up to your spray tan.
-
-
Avoid Oil-Based Products:
-
Refrain from using skin care products that contain excessive oils or are oil-based, as they can create a barrier and affect the tan's development.
-
-
Nail Care:
-
Apply a clear nail polish to protect your nails from potential discoloration.
-
-
Pre-Tan Treatments:
-
If you plan to shave, wax, or have eyelash/eyebrow tinting, do so 24-48 hours prior to your spray tan.
-
-
Avoid Certain Products:
-
Do not use deodorant, perfume, or moisturizers on the day of your tan as they can interfere with the tanning solution.
-
-
Wear Loose Clothing:
-
Opt for loose, dark clothing and flip flops or loose-fitting shoes. Tight clothing can rub off the tan during development.
-
-
Skin Sensitivity:
-
Consider a patch test, especially if you have sensitive skin.
-
-
Contact Lenses & Jewelry:
-
Remove contact lenses to avoid contamination and take off all jewelry before the treatment.
-
Spray Tan After Care:
-
Wait Time:
-
Leave the tan on for 8-10 hours as advised by your therapist. After this period, shower until the water runs clear and then pat yourself dry with a towel.
-
-
Avoiding Interference:
-
Do not wear bras or tight clothing that may affect the tan’s results. Also, avoid excessive scratching or rubbing.
-
-
Exercise:
-
Refrain from intense exercise immediately after your spray tan to prevent sweating, which can affect the tan’s development. Once you’ve rinsed off the guide color, normal exercise is fine.
-
-
Moisturization:
-
Keep your skin well-moisturized with an oil-free product after your first shower to maintain an even and natural tan.
-
-
Shaving:
-
If you need to shave, do so lightly after your initial shower to minimize skin exfoliation.
-
-
Bathing:
-
Avoid long baths, hot showers, or saunas as these can shorten the life of your tan.
-
-
Fading Tan:
-
As the tan starts to fade (usually around the bra line), begin lightly exfoliating with a gentle body scrub to maintain an even color.
-
-
Sun Protection:
-
The tan does not provide sun protection. Continue to use SPF sun protection when outdoors.
-
-
Regular Moisturization:
-
Daily moisturizing will enhance and prolong the life of your tan.
