Spray Tan Pre and after care

Spray Tan Before Care:

  1. Hair Removal:

    • Shave at least 24 hours before your spray tan. If you wax, ensure it’s done at least 48 hours prior to your treatment.

  2. Exfoliation:

    • Exfoliate your skin 2-3 days before your spray tan using an exfoliating body scrub and a loofah or exfoliating gloves. Pay extra attention to dry areas like elbows and knees.

  3. Moisturization:

    • Keep your skin well-moisturized for 2-3 days leading up to your spray tan.

  4. Avoid Oil-Based Products:

    • Refrain from using skin care products that contain excessive oils or are oil-based, as they can create a barrier and affect the tan's development.

  5. Nail Care:

    • Apply a clear nail polish to protect your nails from potential discoloration.

  6. Pre-Tan Treatments:

    • If you plan to shave, wax, or have eyelash/eyebrow tinting, do so 24-48 hours prior to your spray tan.

  7. Avoid Certain Products:

    • Do not use deodorant, perfume, or moisturizers on the day of your tan as they can interfere with the tanning solution.

  8. Wear Loose Clothing:

    • Opt for loose, dark clothing and flip flops or loose-fitting shoes. Tight clothing can rub off the tan during development.

  9. Skin Sensitivity:

    • Consider a patch test, especially if you have sensitive skin.

  10. Contact Lenses & Jewelry:

    • Remove contact lenses to avoid contamination and take off all jewelry before the treatment.

Spray Tan After Care:

  1. Wait Time:

    • Leave the tan on for 8-10 hours as advised by your therapist. After this period, shower until the water runs clear and then pat yourself dry with a towel.

  2. Avoiding Interference:

    • Do not wear bras or tight clothing that may affect the tan’s results. Also, avoid excessive scratching or rubbing.

  3. Exercise:

    • Refrain from intense exercise immediately after your spray tan to prevent sweating, which can affect the tan’s development. Once you’ve rinsed off the guide color, normal exercise is fine.

  4. Moisturization:

    • Keep your skin well-moisturized with an oil-free product after your first shower to maintain an even and natural tan.

  5. Shaving:

    • If you need to shave, do so lightly after your initial shower to minimize skin exfoliation.

  6. Bathing:

    • Avoid long baths, hot showers, or saunas as these can shorten the life of your tan.

  7. Fading Tan:

    • As the tan starts to fade (usually around the bra line), begin lightly exfoliating with a gentle body scrub to maintain an even color.

  8. Sun Protection:

    • The tan does not provide sun protection. Continue to use SPF sun protection when outdoors.

  9. Regular Moisturization:

    • Daily moisturizing will enhance and prolong the life of your tan.
